We are pleased to welcome you to our practice
and look forward to providing your child with
quality dental care. Our Pediatric Dentists and
dental team are dedicated to the oral health of
children, teens, and the handicapped.
What to expect: Most routine first visits
consist of a tooth cleaning, fluoride
application, and a thorough exam completed by
the dentist. X-rays may be taken depending on
the age your child and the scope of the problem.
We do try to refrain from taking x-rays until
ages five or six. We utilize digital x-ray
technology which is a better diagnostic tool and
utilizes less radiation, than the traditional
x-rays. If your child does require x-rays we
would be happy to print out a copy for them to
take home to show their family and friends.
It is best to refrain from using words around
your child that might cause unnecessary fear,
such as needle, pull, drill, or hurt. Our staff
makes a practice of using words that convey the
same message, but are pleasant and
non-frightening to your child.
We invite you to stay with your child during
the initial examination. During future
appointments, we suggest that you allow your
child to accompany our staff through the dental
experience. We can usually establish a closer
rapport with your child when you are not
present. Our purpose is to gain your child's
confidence and overcome apprehension. However,
if you choose, you may come with your child to
the treatment room. For the safety and privacy
of all patients, other children who are not
being treated should remain in the reception
room with a supervising adult.
If your child needs to return to our office
for an involved procedure we recommend
scheduling it in the morning or early afternoon.
It is usually better for the younger patient
because they will not be tired from a full day,
which usually leads to a more positive
experience.
Our number one goal is to make everyone
involved with our practice feel at ease. Our
patients are always our number one concern. We
strive to make each and every visit to our
office a fun and stress free one! Everyone on
our staff is trained to work with children and
truly LOVES working with them.
If you have any questions please call our
office - we are happy to answer your questions.
